This gorgeous oak bowl I carved from an ancient English Oak I cleared from a village just a few miles from my workshop. Rough carved over 18 months ago and then left to 'season' before the final shaping. The bowl was sanded down the grades to a 180 grit paper, then 'saturated' several times with danish oil leaving it with a golden glow and an interesting contrast between the sap wood and heart wood.

As with all my bowls this piece has been hand carved. This piece has plenty of character with all the natural fissures, knots and some burr displayed with the dark sap wood showing on the inside of the bowl and it's rough texture intact on the outside (bark side) of the bowl. An oak 'bow tie' strengthening piece has been inlaid across the main natural fissure.

The finished result is absolutely stunning with a myriad of patterns for the eye to feast on, a heavy weight chunky rustic bowl, with a medieval non-symmetrical feel.

As with all WeirdWood art pieces each item is absolutely unique with its own identifying number stamped on the reverse.

Handmade at the WeirdWood workshop in Staffordshire using only renewable energy produced 'on site'.
